Top Picks olympic wk end clubbing in london
The Olympics are starting this weekend…pure excitement for some and utter aggro for others (I’ll be the latter thanks!) As much as it’s exciting for sports fans, my journey to work is going to be horrendous, I didn’t get tickets and to top it all off, I haven’t even got a TV at the moment to watch it all on!
I’m also interested to see what it’s going to do for the clubbing scene in London! Obviously the amount of tourists will increase tremendously… and I can imagine they will want to party of course!
The main hotspots will be “superclubs” Fabric and Ministry of Sound, so maybe if you don’t fancy a totally overcrowded night, keep away from these venues! Might be a laugh partying with the Orientals and yanks though??! :p
TONIGHT FRIDAY 27th JULY
ELM AT 7-9 CRUCIFIX LANE
(East London Movement) with Matthias Tanzmann, Andrea Giudice, Mathieu Mirande, Roberto Amo
http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?345926
Tanzmann is back in London. Don’t get to see him much these days but he is definitely one to see if you haven’t already…Crucifix lane is also a very good venue and this one will be the one to go tonight for sure. It’s rare to get such a good night on a Friday too!
JOIN THE DOTS AT BASING HOUSE
Youandewan
Special Guest, James Welsh
Helen S
Joe Jackson

Basing house on Shoreditch high street…I do have a lot of love for this venue. Good to go onto for a dance from work drinks!
ALEX ARNOUT AT LOW MEMBERS CLUB
http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?386631
One for the west-enders amongst us if you are working in the city. Don’t expect cheap drinks but definitely expect top class music from the one and only cool cat Alex Arnout.
THE DETROIT SERIES PART 3 AT NETIL 000
Derrick May
JD Twitch (Optimo)
Waifs & Strays
Jon Rust
Nic Tasker
dollop Djs
http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?382188
Detroit legend Derrick May headlining and I’m liking the Waifs & Strays add in the line-up. Can’t say much for the venue as I haven’t been before, but maybe one to try out!
SATURDAY 28th JULY
CANCELLED KRANKBROTHERS ROOF TOP PARTY AT BUSSEY BUILDING
Tiger & Woods
Cozzy D
krankbrothers
It’s a shame this party had to be cancelled due to the licensing issues at the Bussey building. This certainly won’t stop them putting on great parties in the future and I can imagine these guys will find somewhere bigger and better. Catch them at Eastern Electrics festival next weekend!
All tickets are to be refunded.

Got to love a Fabric night now and again. This is a lineup and a half. The Reboot/Dietz duo will certainly go down a storm as they did when I saw them at Ushuaia Opening b2b last year in Ibiza! Powerful. The other rooms aren’t bad either…You will be spoilt for choice! Be prepared for it to be busy.
SLIDE ON THE TERRACE- A LOVE FROM OUTER SPACE
Terrace: Andrew Weatherall, Sean Johnston, Eskimo Twins, Em Williams, Lloyd Wakeman, T Baker, Dan Gascoyne, Club: Archie Hamilton
http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?325461
Great venue the Brixton club house for terrace events. You can catch my review of La Vita here a few weeks ago and next week you can read my review of the Unleash event held here at the weekend. Also Rythmatic resident Archie Hamilton is on the bill, who I have mentioned before with his recent release with Dan Farserelli, expect nothing more then great music.
ONE MORE AT HEARN STREET CAR PARK
Tobias Freund ~~LIVE~~ (Ostgut Ton), Ryan Elliott (Ostgut Ton), Antonio De Angelis, Outart
http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?380961
The One more parties I highly recommend. If you want a warehouse rave in the heart of Shoreditch amongst proper music lovers, check it out!
CONNECTED AT CABLE
Audiojack, Deepgroove, No Artificial Colours, Jesse James & Johnny Bloomfield, Cera Alba, KODY, Kolo & Dyze, Matt Rich & Ricky Torres,..
http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?377916
Nice deep house lineup here at a more intimate venue. Big fan of No Artificial Colours and Cera Alba.
FACT AT THE EGG
RI, Danny Howells (Dig Deeper/Global Underground/CR2) & DJ Ralf (Laterra / Cocoricò), Rossko (Cerca Trova / Fuse / Fact), Rick Maia
http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?383457
Egg may have lost its following from a few years ago when it was the place to be, but with this powerful lineup, it may start getting people back! I may be bias as I am a huge Lost Souls and Rossko fan, so if his set is anything like it was at Cerca Trova at the weekend then I suggest everyone gets down to Egg so they can hear for themselves!!
SAVED AT MINISTRY OF SOUND
Line-up /
Box:
Nic Fanciulli
plus special guests
Dennis Ferrer
Deetron
103:
Andrea Oliva
&ME
Mark Fanciulli
Clio (live)
http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?375211
I actually don’t mind Ministry as a club. The décor is nice, it’s easy to navigate around and the sound is of course amazing. It’s the crowd it attracts which causes me some bother. However, when there is a good night there and a strong lineup, the place can be awesome! This is certainly such a night. Last time I was at the Saved night, Guti and Subb-an smashed it and of course I’m sure the Fanciulli brothers will do the same. Clio (Live) will also be interesting to check out! Again being the Olympics weekend, prepare for a lot of tourists.
SUNDAY 29th JULY
WHAT MATTERS AT BRIXTON CLUB HOUSE
Sonny Wharton
Saytek (live)
Matt Fear
Will Clarke
http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?386070
If you are up for a Sunday session in the sun, head over to the Brixton club house. Loving this venue at the moment where the line-up looks good with a nice blend of deep and tech house. With a tag line of “Sunshine, drinks, BBQ and beautiful People”…how can I refuse?? The party kicks off at 2pm.
whatever you decide to do, have a great wk end!
Enjoy
