Dame Vivienne Westwood Slam’s the rise of ‘disposable crap’ fashion

Dame Vivienne Westwood has criticised the rise of ‘disposable fashion’ and warns how big retailers are conditioning us into being a consumer and making us all look the same.

Speaking recently at the launch of her Red Label collection at London Fashion Week, she said the modern day was the worst period for style and ‘never looked so ugly’

‘Everybody looks like clones and the only people you notice are my age.

'I don’t notice anybody unless they look great, and every now and again they do, and they are usually 70.

‘We are so conformist, nobody is thinking. We are all sucking up stuff, we have been trained to be consumers and we are all consuming far too much'

‘I’m a fashion designer and people think, what do I know? But I’m talking about all this disposable c***.’

The queen of British fashion went on to say consumers today relied heavily on ‘fast’ or ‘disposable’ fashion.

Everybody likes to be individual yet the high street paints an opposite picture. With online sales at record highs and small time shops going bust what are your thoughts on this, do you prefer quantity over quality?
