Top DFL #List: 5 Ibiza Inside, Top 5 Beaches and Restaurants.

For todays 5th DFL list we talk to Ibiza Inside’s Virgil & Marisa; these guys have dedicated their lives to Ibiza, I don’t think there is a single stone left unturned. They know pretty much anything and everything there is to know about Ibiza, and they definitely have an eye for the finer things in life.

Vigil & Marisa interviewed us for the ibiza inside blog last year and with the Season about to start we thought this would be a great opportunity to interview them, to hear and share their Top 5 beaches and restaurants on the island. Enjoy.

DFL: Great to catch up with you again, a lot has happened since last year, we have watched your website grow and grow.  Now you have taken the big decision to move to Ibiza, please tell us all about your decision.

V&M: First of all thank you for having us on your blog. It took us a while before we took the big step of moving to Ibiza. Like everybody else, we were in doubt all the time: Should we do it or not? Are we going to make it or not? Guess that sounds familiar right? We decided to rent a house in Ibiza which will make things easier to run Ibiza Inside. We still have our house in Amsterdam so that enables us to choose where we want to be. We have the luxury of being able to travel back and forth between Amsterdam and Ibiza but we can say with pride that Ibiza is our home.

DFL: So now you are residents, what fun projects will you be working on over the summer?

V&M: We have a lot of cool projects lined up for the years to come. One of the things that we are very proud of are the video productions. We are going to shoot cool videos for various clients on the island. We are looking forward to that. Secondly, we are in the process of organizing retreats in Ibiza in the late season and we are professional hosts for various companies and persons who’d like to come to the island for a holiday or for business.

DFL: Some may call this living the dream, you know the island inside out, please tell us what is your best worst kept secret, by this we mean your most favourite place to go on Ibiza whether it be drinking, eating or relaxing... where is your special place?

V&M: This is a very hard question. Ibiza has many fantastic places that we love to share with anyone who wishes to hear it. If we have to name one, then in our humble opinion Ibiza‘s best kept secret is restaurant El Bigote on the beach of Cala Mastella. This is the only restaurant where you can swim to. No worries, you can walk as well. You can’t call to make a reservation. You need to walk to the restaurant alongside the rocks on the left hand side of the Cala Mastella beach and make sure you do that before 1 am. The menu is the catch of the day. They first prepare the fish and the second dish is rice with a kind of soup made from the fish.

DFL: That sounds amazing! You have experienced so much; you must have a lot of fond memories. What has been your most memorable time?

V&M: The most memorable time was that we were looking for a house and we couldn’t find it. We decided to go with the flow of nature and let Ibiza decide for us. And, believe it or not, the island works in mysterious ways: we did not find the house...the house found us!

V&M:

Top 5 beaches in ibiza:
1. Sillot d’es Rencli
2. Salinas
3. Pou des Lleo
4. Benniras
5. Es Cavallet

Top 5 restaurants
1. Paella at Restaurant El Carmen, Cala d’ Hort
2. Lunch in winter time at La Paloma Café, San Lorenzo
3. Sa Punta, Talamanca Bay. Food first and then cocktails on the panorama roof terrace
4. Bar San Juan, Ibiza Town
5. Restaurant Es Xarcu, Es Xarcu bay

DFL: We will be taking you up on this advice! some great tips here, you have got us excited for the season  ahead. Thank you Virgil & Marisa, stay safe and have a fun summer!

The DFL #List: 4 Ben Prince Top 5 Gigs

Happy Friday to you all!

Day 4 of our 5 days of 5 lists, and the last day before the big Super Vision future music festival, crashes down into Proud2, O2, London,  what better time then to catch up with Ben Prince.

Ben is a Dj & producer and one of the guys behind Super Vision and the sub tracked parties. We caught up with Ben to talk about his motivation behind the event, the best gigs he has played this year and some inside info on future tracks & releases

DFL: So Ben Super Vision looks set to be an amazing night/ experience and with some of the dance musics biggest stars lined up tell us what was the motivation behind putting a night like this on?

Ben Prince: Basically.. we wanted to create an event that had big room djs that you dont see every weekend in London. We see other clubs bringing the same djs in all the time so we looked hard, thought hard and came up with an array of djs that fitted that bill.. EDX, Tocadisco, Arno Cost, Tristan Garner, Kim Fai, Kryder and more... Im a little biased but for me this is one of my favorite line ups ive seen and since we have been in contact regularly with these djs, their recent mixes and releases will definitely bring a night that will be remembered for sometime

my top 5 events have been:

1. DJ Mag awards at ministry of sound

2. Whitehouse in clapham where the club was meant to shut at 3.30 but kept it open till 5.30 haha

3. Supporting carl cox at Electric Brixton

4. Supporting hardwell and ant brooks at ministry of sound

5. Playing after koen groenveld at pacha london

cafe del mar, from left to right: Ben prince, Tobie Allen and Mark Knight

DFL: That is an impressive CV of events right there, there must have been some memorable times on your path, what has been you best moment to date?

Ben Prince: Best moment ever... either taking over from Mark knight and Micheal woods at cafe del mar ibiza for Toolroom's pre party or playing space terrace main slot!

DFL: Well you cant really beat that a landmark in any DJ's career, so summer is creeping round the corner, what top tip for summer anthem contender can you give us?
Ben Prince: Top tunes for summer, id ay anything house or deep.. Maceo Plex is really killing it at the moment, 1. string thing - shadow child is a big Tune at the moment and i cant see this fading away anytime soon.

DFL: Thats an absolute beast of a tune! So being a DJ and a producer you must have some secret weapons in the pipeline.. what can you tell us about any future releases we can look forward to hearing?

Ben Prince: Umeks weekly podcast.. Last week my track Kumara was voted track of the week by him. Its being released in two weeks on bootleg social records.

DFL: Thanks Ben! congratulations and good luck with Kumara.
